Cloud Backup Data Retention Policy

Balance On Hand Pro includes encrypted cloud backup. This policy explains what happens to your encrypted cloud backup data at each stage of your subscription, and how you can request deletion at any time.

Important: Your budget backup is encrypted before it is sent to our servers. Balance On Hand does not store your recovery phrase and is designed so that we cannot read your budget backup without it.

Active Pro subscription

While your Balance On Hand Pro subscription is active, your encrypted cloud backup is available for save and restore. Balance On Hand retains your latest and previous encrypted backups so you can access and restore your data.

Canceled subscription

If you cancel your Pro subscription, you keep cloud backup access through the end of your current paid billing period. Your encrypted backup remains available during this time.

Subscription expiration

When your Pro subscription ends — whether through cancellation, payment failure, or non-renewal — Balance On Hand retains your encrypted cloud backup for up to 30 days. This grace period gives you time to renew your subscription or restore your data if you choose to resubscribe.

After the grace period

After 30 days following the end of your Pro subscription, your encrypted cloud backup is permanently deleted from active backup systems. Once deleted, Balance On Hand cannot recover it.

Immediate deletion

You do not have to wait for the grace period to end. You may request deletion of your cloud backup data at any time. If you request immediate deletion, your encrypted backup will be removed without waiting for the end of your subscription period or grace period. Once deleted, it cannot be restored.

Account deletion

If you request account deletion or choose to end your relationship with Balance On Hand, your subscription will be canceled if possible, your encrypted cloud backup will be deleted immediately, and your account record will be minimized or removed where allowed.

What happens after deletion

After your encrypted cloud backup is deleted:

  • Cloud restore will no longer be available for your account.
  • The encrypted backup data is removed from active backup systems and cannot be recovered.
  • Any budget data stored locally on your device is not affected by cloud backup deletion.

Business and legal records

Deleting your cloud backup removes the encrypted budget backup from Balance On Hand's backup system. Some limited business records — such as payment records, fraud-prevention records, security logs, tax records, or legal records — may be retained as required or permitted by law. These records do not contain your readable budget data.

Our commitment

Balance On Hand is committed to deleting encrypted cloud backup data promptly when required by this policy or by user request. We designed the backup system so that even retained business records do not contain readable financial details from your budget.
